2016 Award Recipients
Each season awards are given out at the mid-season mark and after the season has been concluded. The awards are divided typically into three categories: Junior (12 to 15yrs old), Senior (16 to 28yrs old) and Antique (29yrs old and onwards). These are handed out by the League Commissionaire, Michael O'Hearon and are based on his observations during the games.

COACHES OF THE YEAR:
Wayne Pardy, Blue & Jason MacVane, Purple
Normally I don't like ties but it is impossible to decide between these two amazing coaches. Both men were the epitome of positiveness as they cheered their teams on from the first whistle to the final one. Both players allowed younger players to take big shots and helped build their confidence as the season progressed. Never once did they disparage the referees but rather were the voice of reason when things got heated on the court. Besides being the vocal coaches they were coaches that led by example - defence, offence - they never took a shift off and played the game the way the game should be played.
Runners Up: B.Connors, Black & D.Broome, Orange

SUBSTITUTE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:
Colton Ryan
Colton joined the league later in the season and was a cog on many a team. He played hard at both ends of the court and looked to contribute where ever he could whether that was locking down on defence or chipping in on the glass to get an easy put back. His love of the game of basketball was evident as he just wanted to play, wanted to help teams win and was always willing to do his part week in and week out.
Runners Up: O.Mansfield & T.Smith

PLAYOFF PERFORMER OF THE YEAR:
Jarrett Hubley, Gold
A force to be reckoned with all season and part of the dominant duo that reigned terror on the league all season. In the finals he ran the court like a man possessed, attacking the basket like it had taken his lunch money and he wanted it back. No one could stop him from scoring and on the other end of the court he locked down the defensive end, controlling the center of the key and making sure that every Blue shot was contested. He was the central figure in Gold's championship win.

LEAGUE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER:
Wendell Weir, Blue
All season he was the central cog in the Blue attack. Defences planned to stop him but he was an unstoppable force. He was every where on the court - rebounding, scoring, passing - there wasn't an aspect of the game that his presence didn't affect. Besides being a force on the court he was an example of the game and how it was to be played in our league. He put the team first and looked to help the players on his team improve, while still managing to always put his stamp on the game.
