2015 Game reports

WEEK 1:  BACK IN THE SADDLE
GAME 1: Black (50/47) vs. Blue (52/50)
The first game of the season was a sloppy affair with both teams getting to know each other. Blue exploded early and built up a lead only to see Black claw their way back into the game. Kyle Lowe (19pts) and Owen Mansfield  (14pts) scored at will while Michael O'Hearon (17pts) and Mike Zinck (10pts) countered for Black.  It wasn't meant to be for Black as Blue snuck away with the 52 to 50 victory.
MEN OF THE MATCH:
R.Hasegawa, Black
O.Mansfield, Blue
GAME 2: Gold (65) vs. Pink (55)
This game was a story of two halves - the first  being Pink who for much of the first half flexed their muscles while Gold struggled to find their footing. The second half saw Gold bounce back and turn on the jets, leaving Pink wondering what had happened. Matt Trethewey (14pts) and Wendell Weir (13pts) guided Pink while Mackenzie Carver (18pts) and Steven Zwicker (16pts) guided Gold to vcitory.
MEN OF THE MATCH:
S.Zwicker, Gold
M.Trethewey, Pink
GAME 3: Purple (68/67) vs. White (40)
Purple seemed to gel immediately, which spelt trouble for the White team who seemed shell shocked by the defensive barrage and offensive fluidity of their opponent. Without their bigs, Purple dominated the glass and with only Andrew Johnson (20pts) reaching double figures, Purple cruised to the 28 point victory behind Josh Chaytor (22pts) and Wayne Pardy (10pts).
MEN OF THE MATCH:
J.Chaytor, Purple
A.Johnson, White

WEEK 2: CHEMISTRY CLASS
GAME 1:  Pink (50) vs.  Purple (75/65)
Despite missing two of their energizers, Purple shut down the Pink offensive attack with  a stifling defence and a high-octane offence. With shots falling from all corners  and led by Josh Chaytor (16pts) and Evan Monahan (14pts) the Purple team ran past Wendell Weir (25pts) and the Pink team, capturing the much needed 75 to 50 victory.
MEN OF THE MATCH:
W.Weir, Pink
E.Monahan, Purple
GAME 2: Black (50/41) vs. Gold (56/54)
Gold came out as a team with purpose and easily pressed their record to 2 and 0. With their one-two punch of Mackenzie Carver (21pts) and Steven Zwicker (16pts) , Gold cruised past the Black team led by Caleb Leary (18pts) and Michael O'Hearon (16pts), capturing the  56 to 50 victory.
MEN OF THE MATCH:
C.Leary, Black
M.Carver, Gold
GAME 3:  Blue (50/49) vs. White (66/65)
Both teams came out and fought hard as White looked to bounce back in the standings. White used a solid inside-outside punch led by Andrew Johnson (25pts) and Connor Munro (12pts) while Blue countered with the quick Kyle Lowe (14pts)  but wasn't able to  deal with the White attack and fell 66 to 50.
MEN OF THE MATCH:
J.Oickle, Blue
C.Munro, White

WEEK 3:  MARCH MADNESS
GAME 1: Gold (79) vs. White (50/38)
Gold flexed  their muscles and White was missing most of their team.  Gold used their team continuity and size to dominate the smaller, substitute filled White team  to open up a lead that they would never relent. White was led by Mike Zinck (16pts) and Daniel Looke (12pts) but that wasn't enough to balance  the score as Mackenzie Carver (18pts) and Sebastian Emino-Savory (12pts) led four Gold players with double-figure points in the 79 to 50 victory.
MEN OF THE MATCH:
S.Emino-Savory, Gold
D.Looke, White
GAME 2: Blue (45/43) vs. Purple (63)
It started as a battle as both teams played strong defence, and with points hard to come by, Blue held a slim lead at the half. Cody DeLong (14pts) rallied the Purple People Eaters and going into the final shift Purple was cruising to victory when  injury befell Mustapha Maynard, who had to be carted off  by ambulance with a knee injury. The game was called with Purple winning and our thoughts are with Moose and his family.
MEN OF THE MATCH:
B.Zinck, Blue
C.DeLong, Purple
GAME 3: Black (48/42) vs. Pink (57)
This was a battle between two teams looking for their first wins of the season. Black was forced into turnovers repeatedly and Pink capitalized  on those turnovers. Nick Chaytor (16pts)  and Allan Carver (10pts) controlled the key while Michael O'Hearon (15pts) and Caleb Leary (13pts) tried to keep the game close. It wasn't to be for Black, who dropped to 0 and 3, as Pink gained their first victory, 57 to 48, and joined the winning ranks.
MEN OF THE MATCH:
B.Silver, Black
N.Chaytor, Pink

WEEK 4: BEFORE THE CALM
GAME 1: Black (55) vs. Purple (64/61)
Black still looking for its first win of the season ran into the Purple team that was in mid-season form. Purple inflicted their will  early on the game and took advantage of a weak Black defence. Black made their way back into the game behind Alex Slauenwhite (15pts) and James Quick (15pts) but their attack was offset by Cody DeLong (15pts) and Josh Chaytor (14pts) as Purple won 64 to 55.
MEN OF THE MATCH:
J.Quick, Black
C.DeLong, Purple
GAME 2: Pink (49/45) vs. White (62)
With their team all together again, White influenced the game with their superior size. Pink fought valiantly against the larger team behind Matt Trethewey (14pts)  but once again the inside presence of Connor Munro (11pts) and the mid-range game of Andrew Johnson (19pts) was too much for the Pink to team to overcome. White grabbed its second victory of the season 62 to 49.
MEN OF THE MATCH:
M.Trethewey, Pink
A.Frail, White
GAME 3: Blue (45/42) vs. Gold (62/61)

MEN OF THE MATCH:
D.Dexter, Blue
K.Ryan, Gold

WEEK 5: FOR THE FIRST TIME ...
GAME 1: Blue (64) vs. Pink (62/60) OT-Shoot Out
With both teams looking to gain ground in their respective divisions. Neither team was willing to give up an inch of ground as they grinded out  to an even draw at the end of regulation.  Overtime would  determine nothing and Blue would escape with the victory in the shoot out  after going 2 for 4 while Pink went 0 for 4. Caleb Leary (18pts) and Kyle Lowe (14pts) led the Blue attack while Pink was paced by Wendell Weir (15pts) and Nick Chaytor (13pts).
MEN OF THE MATCH:
C.Leary, Blue
W.Weir, Pink
GAME 2: Black (50/44) vs. White (69)
Black was looking for their first victory of the season while White was looking to keep pace with Pink. Black temporarily held the lead but White used their second shift to storm past them for a lead that they wouldn't give up for the rest of the game. Despite Michael O'Hearon (28pts) and Mike Zinck (12pts) putting up good numbers, White led by Andrew Johnson (18pts) and Ryleigh Theriau (13pts)  managed to take the victory and send Black to another defeat.
MEN OF THE MATCH:
M.O'Hearon, Black
A.Frail, White
GAME 3: Gold (46) vs. Purple (55)
This was the clash of the season so far with the two undefeated teams locking horns . Both teams played with fury  and defensive ardor , which caused them to score just 24 first half points.  The half saw Gold stumble slightly and Purple pounce on the stumbling Gold team.  Purple built a small lead  that they would never relinquish  as they managed to remain the only undefeated team. Only Cody DeLong (11pts) and Mackenzie Carver (15pts) managed double-figures.
MEN OF THE MATCH:
M.Carver, Gold
C.DeLong, Purple

WEEK 6: TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE

Tonight the pursuit of perfection ended for Purple but what a game!!
MEN OF THE MATCH:
S.Hirtle, Purple
D.Frank, White
GAME 2: Gold (51) vs. Pink (56/53)
Gold was looking to bounce back after their defeat last  week against divisional foe Pink. Pink was looking to exercise their muscles and show that they were a force to be reckoned with. Pink kept Gold off balance all evening  and hit the big shots when they needed to. Led by Nick Chaytor (15pts) and Tyler Dylan (10pts) Pink managed to slide past Steven Zwicker (12pts) and Mackenzie Carver (10pts)  by sheer force of will on the game. M.O'Hearon, Black
K.Ryan, Gold
